Restored diplomas for the permanent exhibition of the Museum
Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, in 2020 the works on the restoration of the museum material selected for the permanent exhibition continued. In October, the restoration of two diplomas of Croatian pharmacists from the Collection of Diplomas and Charters of the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy was completed. Conservation and restoration works were carried out by the restorer Mario Kauzlarić, MK bookbinder and cardboard maker in Zagreb.
The diploma of Vilim Panac, a master of pharmacy, a member of the famous pharmacy family Panac from Petrinja, who graduated in Vienna on November 28, 1891, was printed and handwritten on paper. In the middle of the lower part of the diploma there is a seal with an ornamental border made in the technique of scissors. The diploma was cleaned of stains by conservation and restoration works, cracks caused by folding were repaired and all manuscript and decorative elements were preserved (picture inside this post, above the text).
The diploma of Guilelmo Papo was issued on October 9, 1908 in Gorizia. It is graphically designed in the style of historicism. To the left and right of the text in an ornamental border are the figures of Hygieia and Aesculapius, and below in the middle below the text an allegorical figure of science with attributes. The diploma was folded and in those places the paper cracked, parts were missing in the margins, the paper was dirty. Conservation and restoration works have eliminated all the shortcomings, and all the information and art elements of the original document have been preserved (picture next to the title of this post on the main menu of the website).
