Christmas Greetings

Dear friends, associates and followers of the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy,
the holidays are coming and the end of the calendar year is approaching – it is the right time to remember and recapitulate everything we have done in this year that is coming to an end.
We celebrated the 65th anniversary of the Institute for History and Philosophy of Science of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, from which our Museum emerged. We presented the history, holdings and the work of the Museum to date with a lecture as part of the Science in Focus series. We were a guest on the show Poveznice on the First Program of the Croatian Radio. We participated in the scientific conference Andrija Štampar Days in Slavonski Brod. We were guests with our exhibitions at the Božidar Adžija Library in Zagreb (The Reverse Side of the City a Hundred Years Ago), at the State Archives in Bjelovar (Diplomas and Charters of Croatian Pharmacists) and at the Workers’ Home in Delnice (posters about the Delnice Pharmacy as part of the exhibition Colors of Pharmacy Jars). On the DiZbi HAZU portal, we have published a new virtual collection Portraits of Croatian Pharmacists. The Glasnik HAZU published an overview of our collection of portraits of Croatian pharmacists, and the Liječnički vjesnik published our article From Jakob Hlavka’s Factory to the Instrumentarium. As every year, we continued our cooperation with professional societies and cultural institutions, responded to user requests and lent materials for exhibitions, and the Museum’s holdings were increased with several donations.
We are ending the year by returning museum materials and documentation to our renovated building at Gundulićeva 24. We have extensive work ahead of us to unpack and organize various museum collections and documentation funds, so that we can continue our regular activities in the foreseeable future.
However, there is no downtime in our communication with the public. We regularly inform you about our events via this website and the social network Facebook, and you can continuously follow our posts under the title Happened on this day, where we recall important events, institutions and people from the history of Croatian and global biomedical sciences and practice.
For the next period, we are preparing a guest appearance at the Sisak City Museum in February 2026 with the exhibition Kaštel at its peak (which was first presented in 2016 at the CASA Library) and a new exhibition entitled From Jakob Hlavka to Instrumentaria: 130 years of medical instruments production in Zagreb, which will be displayed at the Zagreb City Museum in March and April 2026.
Thanks to everyone who supports and follows our activities.
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy and successful new year 2026!
