Croatian emigrant prof. dr. Steven Živko Pavletić visited HAZU, HMMF and OPMZ

Zagreb, October 17, 2017 – On Tuesday, October 17, prof. Steven Živko Pavletić, MD, with his wife, Ph.D. Adriana Jadranka Pavletić visited the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, its Department of Medical Sciences, the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy, and the Division for the History of Medical Sciences. This Croatian emigrant is a prominent oncologist, scientist, senior clinician and head of the National Institutes of Health (NIH, NCI) in Bethesda, professor of medicine and oncology at Georgetown University in Washington and Vice-President of the Association of Croatian American Professionals.

During his visit to the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Division for the History of Medical Sciences, he inspected the premises and museum material, and in the conversation the cooperation of these units of the Croatian Academy and the Association of Croatian-American Experts (ACAP) was initiated in the development of the project of the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy HAZU.

The realization of the cooperation of the Academic units with the American academic diaspora will enable the opening of various possibilities for better communication and active connection with the Croatian academic community in the USA.

Prof. dr. Steven Živko Pavletić also visited the HAZU Palace where he was received by Secretary General Academician Pavao Rudan, Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences Academician Marko Pećina, Academician Vjekoslav Jerolimov, Secretary of HAZU Marina Štancl, and Head of the Division for the History of Medical Sciences prof. dr. sc. Stella Fatović-Ferenčić and Manager of the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy Silvija Brkić Midžić. A guest from the United States also visited the Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters of HAZU.
