April 16 is World Voice Day. It is celebrated around the world by otorhinolaryngologists and phoniatricians and all others who deal with the phenomenon of the human voice. It is also marked by voice artists, and especially media workers of all world radio and television stations, because that day is also their day, since they convey their message primarily by voice.
The basic messages of World Voice Day are as follows:
1. Protect your vocal cords from smoking because your vocal cords are its first target organ and the number of vocal cord cancer patients in the world is growing. As this is an audible illness, pay attention to your voice and contact your doctor. Stop smoking!
2. Preserve your professional voice, avoid phonotrauma because it destroys the vocal cords: it leads to vocal nodules or scarring in the vocal cords. Speak relaxed, do not speak in noise, do not shout.
