International Family Day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1989, and was first celebrated worldwide on May 15, 1994 under the slogan “Family Day is not about things but cordial relations between parents and children” as a reflection of the importance the international community attaches to the family as unit of society. Every year, various events mark this day, which reminds us that the family is the foundation of today’s society, that from the family and family environment are created people with their own character, attitudes, beliefs that build a future world.
