The new virtual collection of the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy on the portal DiZbi HAZU – Memorial collection of Anica Jušić
Anica Jušić, Croatian neurologist (Zagreb, July 26, 1926 – Zagreb, December 5, 2021), graduated from the School of Medicine in Zagreb in 1952 and specialized in neurology in 1960. From 1956 until her retirement in 1991, she worked at the Department of Neuropsychiatry (later the Neurological) clinic of the Clinical Hospital Center in Zagreb, where she founded and led the Center (later the Institute) for neuromuscular diseases; full professor at the School of Medicine in Zagreb. She advanced electromyoneurography, which she primarily dealt with. She was the first in Croatia to start a palliative care service and advocated for the establishment of a hospice. In 1994, she founded the Croatian Society for Hospice/Palliative Care at the Croatian Medical Association, of which she was the president until 2009.
Anica Jušić’s memorial collection contains 29 diplomas and charters testifying to her academic titles and recognitions obtained for clinical, scientific and teaching work in the field of neurology, as well as for her contribution to the development of the hospice movement and palliative care in Croatia. Anica Jušić donated this biographical material to the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy, CASA, in 2021.
