Teodor Wickerhauser
Teodor Wickerhauser, Croatian Physician (Zagreb, 4th April 1858 – Zagreb, 13th April, 1946).
He graduated from the University of Medicine in Graz in 1883. From 1885 to 1914 he was the head of the surgical department of Hospital „Sestre milosrdnice“ in Zagreb. Pioneer of Croatian surgery; he has been dealing with abdominal surgery, aseps, and has specified the indication of various types of anesthesia. He educated a number of excellent surgeons who became head of surgical offices throughout Croatia.
He was one of the founders of the Zagreb School of Medicine (1917), where he was a professor from 1918 to 24. Honorary member of JAZU (today HAZU) and honored citizen of Zagreb.
