Institutions such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations emphasize on this day the importance of midwifery in improving the global situation, but also the role that midwives play in addressing specific problems in each community. This day
is first and foremost about raising awareness of the conditions that need to be improved, about improving the rights of expectant mothers and newborns in childbirth, and about the key role of midwifery in promoting the quality of conditions in which new life is born.
